Are Women Equal In Mormon Land?
Or Do Old White Men Control The Kingdom Of God?
You might hear all manner of PR from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, known as the Mormons, about the role of women in the church and women's roles in the family. They say women are so unique they are chosen to have the most valuable positions in the church. Leadership? No, they are groomed from birth and strenuously from age 12 to be mothers and loyal wives to their priesthood leader, their husband. Their husband might be a real dodo or the most enormous ass out there, but he's in charge.
Okay, you will hear a barrage of info stating that husband and wife lead together, but again behind the scenes, the PR doesn't ring true. Any woman I ever met who rebelled against this deeply held belief will soon find themselves counseled by their Bishop to correct any 'misunderstandings' the sister might have. Any disbelief or questioning will be the individual's fault because 'they lack faith.'
As you can see above, the Mormon Prophet, Spencer W. Kimball, didn't hide the truth. He said it as it was and as it is. Married women should be at home, with lots of children, taking care of the home. And, of course, her husband when he arrives home from his meaningful, divinely chosen employment. As they say, straight from the horse's mouth!
